The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall

Our wall is a 3/5 scale of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., standing 6 feet tall at the center and covers almost 300 feet from end to end. This Traveling Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships, and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their hometown who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington. Carteret County Parks and Rec - Beach Run Series

Dust off those running shoes and join in for one of the most Parks and Rec events of the season. Open to all ages and experience levels...fun for the entire family. 1 mile, 5k or 10k. Runs are on the beach at the Atlantic Beach Circle. $50 for series (includes t-shirt) or $7 per race - Pre-registration suggested but not required. Registration begins 5:15 pm / all races begin at 6:30 pm. Dates are as follows:

Kayak for the Warriors / Warrior Reception and Auctions

On Thursday evening June 1, 2017, at 6:00 pm, the annual Warrior Reception with it's two auctions (Live and Silent) will be held at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. This event, which especially honors our combat wounded, is also intended to recognize all of our veterans. A delightfully entertaining evening for anyone and everyone. For your admission fee of only $10 you not only gain admittance to the aquarium and all its exhibits, but you are also entitled to enjoy some of the finest food our local restaurants can present. And, if that isn't enough, 2 beverages of your choice (wine, beer, and soda) are also included. Explore the Rachel Carson Reserve

Discover the various plants and animals of the Rachel Carson Reserve. A guided hike will take you through the different habitats found on Town Marsh and Bird Shoal. Build a Boat-in-a-Day Course

Each participating team assembles a prepared kit for a small flat-bottomed plywood boat suitable for paddling. The boat is 12 ft. long, 32" wide, and weighs about 40 pounds. By the end of the class each boat will be completed to a watertight condition. Detail finishing and painting is the responsibility of team members and may not be undertaken in the Watercraft Center. Teams are limited to a maximum of 4 persons, at least one of whom must be an adult. (6 hours). Course Fee: $600. Minimum age: 8 years old. All courses are limited in size. 10th Annual Kayak for the Warriors

Kayak for the Warriors™ is an annual fundraising event for HOPE FOR THE WARRIORS® to benefit our brave, combat injured and fallen service men and women and their families, sponsored by the Town of Pine Knoll Shores, NC. The tenth annual kayak and paddle board race will be run on Saturday, June 3, 2017, traversing a 3.2-mile route along the town's beautiful canals and Bogue sound. In the 2015 event, more than 140 participants raced or just paddled at a leisurely pace while enjoying the scenery. Kayakers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. In 2015 we raised $75,000 for Hope for The Warriors®, a civilian non-profit organization supporting those who have sacrificed in the name of freedom. A 3.2-mile kayak and paddle board race through the Pine Knoll Shores canals and Bogue Sound begins Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10 am. A $50 registration fee includes a Warrior T-shirt and lunch. We will again have the WARRIORS RACE, a "race within a race." FOR EVER DOLLAR RAISED BY EACH RACER, 1 SECOND WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM THEIR RAW RACE TIME. There is NO limit to the number of seconds that can be deducted. The WARRIOR winner will be the racer with the fastest WARRIOR time by calculating their (raw time)-(dollars raised/seconds)=WARRIOR time. All sponsor dollars must be submitted 24 hours before the race including the electronic cut off submitting on line. NOAA Beaufort Lab Open House

Tri for Fun Junior Triathlon

Don't miss the Inaugural "Tri for Fun" Junior's Triathlon & Family Fun Day Saturday Jun 10th at Sports Center of Morehead City.
